Figure Matrix

In this type of questions, either a 2 times 2 or 3 times 3 matrix is formed by a group of figures. These figures form sets - either row - wise or columnwise and each of these sets follows the same rule. The candidate is required to analyse each the sets to find out the common rule and then on its basis, the missing figure is to be identified from a set of alternatives, so as to complete the matrix.

Example: In the following question, find out which of the answer figures A,B,C and D completes the figure matrix ?

A.      B.     C.     D.

Answer : C

Explanation :

In each row, the number of elements in the third figure is equal to the dillerence in the number of elements in the first and second figures. Also, the third figure has same types of elements (if any) as the elements in the first figure.

Example : In the following question, find out which of the answer figures A,B,C and D completes the figure matrix ?

A.     B.     C.     D.

Answer : D

Explanation : There are 3 types of faces, 3 types of hands and 3 types of legs. Each type is used once in each row. So, the features not used in the first two figures of the third row would together form the missing figure.
